In Mrs. Horton’s Kindergarten class, young learners are beginning their exciting journey to become attentive and engaged students! They’re discovering the power of focus as a crucial listening tool. With enthusiasm and curiosity, these scholars use their brains, hearts, eyes, ears, feet, and hands to listen.

Dear Parents/Guardians

I wanted to share our revised approach for parent engagement. Instead of our usual in-house curriculum night, teachers will send out a curriculum slideshow in Friday newsletters, offering parents insights into what their children are learning.

We’re excited to announce our “Celebration of Learning Night” in December. Students will showcase projects and work related to the curriculum and design thinking. We’ll share event details in the coming months through newsletters and our school website.

Thank you for your support in enhancing our parent involvement

Principal, Ryan Ball

Office Notes: Please make sure you email teachers and Kate Trifiletti ([email protected]) when your child is out sick or not attending. Teachers do not have the ability to EXCUSE the absence. They can only mark them absent. Thank you for your help with this.

Preschool Fees – Are due the first of each month through May. Please pay through Infinite Campus or, if necessary, by check made out to Highlands Elementary. Thank you

The Superintendent Town Hall meetings are starting up. Click here to see the upcoming dates. We encourage families to attend a meeting to hear information and share ideas regarding our area schools!

The LTP Student iPad Insurance window will close on September 15th. Parents who wish to join the insurance pool for the current school year will need to make at least a partial payment before that date. All students are eligible to join the insurance pool for the school year. You can make a full or partial payment through Infinite Campus.

Material Fees – The $10.00 fee has been added to Infinite Campus (IC). They cover school-specific, hard-to find expendable items and non-standard classroom materials associated with classroom learning and projects.

Gifted and Talented Referrals

Each year, schools in the St. Vrain Valley School District complete a process to identify students who demonstrate exceptional ability or performance in one or more academic areas and may, therefore, qualify for Gifted/Talented educational services. These students usually perform at least two years above grade level in their strength area(s), and they require additional academic challenges in order to support their continued educational growth and progress.  In addition, they usually demonstrate characteristics of unique creativity and high motivation in their strength areas.

Referrals are open through the month of September and will close on the last day of the month. Referrals after that date will be addressed on a case by case basis. Completing a referral guarantees a review of the student’s profile to determine if testing is recommended for the student. The process for identification requires a body of evidence and often takes place throughout the school year.

The process takes approximately 5-10 minutes to complete.

*Please note that all 2nd graders will go through a screening process this fall, and will not require you to submit a referral.  More information will be sent home in September.

Please reach out if you have any questions.

Thank you,
