In our first week back from winter break, students have been working hard to get back into our PE routines, and have been playing a super fun game called Hungry Hungry Hippos! The game involves students laying on scooters and getting pushed by their teammates to go “chomp” up the food. All grade levels have participated in this activity and are having a blast!

Our next units will be Hockey (3rd, 4th, & 5th grades), and Rodeo Fun (K, 1st & 2nd grades).

School Attendance Matters

Regular attendance is one of the most important factors in determining academic success. Here are some tips to support your child’s regular attendance:

  • Talk about the importance of regular attendance and about how your child feels about school.
  • Build regular routines for bedtime and the morning.
  • Develop back-up plans for getting to school if something comes up. Ask a family member, neighbor or another parent for help.
  • Seek support from school staff or community groups to help with transportation, health problems or other issues that may prevent your student from attending school.
  • If your child is sick or needs to miss school, please contact Kate Trifiletti at 303 702 8040  or [email protected] to report the absence

Exemplary Attendance Awards:

In an effort to encourage student attendance we will be recognizing one student per class every month who is showing exemplary attendance. Awards for the month of January will be given out on Friday, February 2nd.

We understand that some absences are unavoidable due to health problems or other circumstances and we are here to help support you in ensuring that your student is successful in his/her attendance and continued academic achievement.

SOMEONE SPECIAL DANCE – DON’T FORGET TO PURCHASE TICKETS ONLINE!

On Friday, January 19, 2024, the Highlands Elementary PTO is hosting our first “Someone Special Dance” at the school from 5-7 pm. Discounted pre-sale tickets for “special someone” guests are available to purchase online now at the link below and will also be available for purchase at full price at the door.

The pre-sale online tickets are $15 which includes the Highlands Elementary student plus their “someone special” and tickets are $10 for additional “special” guests such as another parent, grandparents, siblings, etc.

When you order tickets, please place your student’s name that the ticket is associated with in the “add a note for the seller” comment box at checkout so we can locate tickets easily at the event.

This year’s special Winter Wonderland event invites students in grades Pre-K through grade 5 to bring their favorite adult(s) to join in the festivities! The Someone Special Dance is similar to a mommy/son or daddy/daughter dance, but more inclusive where students may invite any guardian or guardians as their guest(s); parents, grandparents, etc.

We hope to see you there!
