My name is Christa Overlease and I am a Special Education Resource teacher. This is my 15th year of teaching and my 5th year at Highlands Elementary School. I had the honor of serving on Highlands' Leadership Team to help open the school and develop the mission and vision of our school. Before coming to Highlands, I taught at Eagle Crest Elementary in Longmont for 10 years. I have been a PTeach Clinical Teacher through SVVSD and CU Denver since their program started. I have had the opportunity to serve on the school district math and literacy adoption and pilot committees. Prior to teaching, I was a counselor for Imagine in group homes for developmentally disabled adults and also worked at a Juvenile Treatment Facility.
Outside of school, I live in Longmont with my husband (who is also a SPED Resource Teacher) and our 3 children. We enjoy spending time with our 4 dogs, traveling, camping, and paddleboarding. Most of my free time is spent driving my kids to their after school activities, which includes (but is not limited to) dance, volleyball, basketball, baseball, hockey, swimming, softball, bowling, soccer, marching band, orchestra and cheerleading.
