Health News:

 We have had some questions about when students should stay home from school.  The most common reasons to keep your child home are below.

If they:

• Have had a fever of 100.4 or higher in the last 24 hours 
• Have vomited in the last 24 hours
• Have had diarrhea in the last 24 hours
• Cannot participate in normal activities due to illness

If your student will be absent due to illness please send an email to our attendance clerk at [email protected].  If your student was seen by a doctor during their illness you may obtain a doctor’s note to further excuse the absence.

Smooth Dismissal: Parent Responsibility for Consistent Pick-Up

Parent responsibility is key to maintaining pick-up consistency.  When students know where to go, who will pick them up, and what the backup plan is, they are better prepared for any situation. Sticking to a consistent established plan is crucial to minimizing confusion and stress.

To ensure a smooth and stress-free dismissal process, we kindly request that parents discuss end-of-day pick-up plans with their children daily. Students should know how they are getting home before coming to school.  Clear communication helps students feel more confident and calm, especially if there are any delays.

We understand that true emergencies can arise. In such cases, please call the front office at (303) 702 – 8040 as early as possible if there is a change in the pick-up plan.  We want to ensure that all emergency changes are communicated effectively and in a timely manner and appreciate your cooperation in this matter. 

Non-emergency changes should be kept to a minimum and communicated early in the day and no later than 3pm.  We can not guarantee calls made after three will give the office enough time to communicate those changes with students and staff.

The students of Erie High School’s Student Government have joined together to host a Wish Week to raise money for Make-A-Wish^® Colorado and help create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.  We would like to invite you to join us and help grant wishes for kids like Edwin and his wish to go to Walt Disney World. 

These wishes are unique, powerful and life-changing. Wishes have proven physical and emotional benefits that can give children with critical illnesses a higher chance of survival. When a wish is granted, a child replaces fear with confidence, sadness with joy, and anxiety with hope. A wish transforms the lives of children, their families, volunteers, supporters, medical professionals, and entire communities. 

Help us to transform the lives of these deserving kids. There are lots of ways your school community can get involved! Our Wish Week will be held February 24-28th, 2025,  and we invite you to participate in our events throughout the week. Below  is a list of Wish Week events, including restaurant nights.  Please share this information with your school community and encourage them to support the week by eating at the various restaurants!

Adolescent RISE with Nicholas Thompson, Licensed Clinical Social Worker

Adolescent RISE is a presentation that takes a fun and informative look at the developmental period of adolescence (ages 10-25). It includes debunking myths about adolescence, understanding the four qualities of adolescence (risk taking, identity formation, social reorientation, and emotional intensity), and learning about the tweenage brain. With this foundation established, ways to better support our kids will be discussed.

Erie High School is thrilled to host the Colorado VEX V5RC Robotics State Championships on March 14-15, and we need your help! This is a fantastic opportunity to support our students and the future of STEM.

We’re looking for volunteers to assist with various roles, including judging (training provided), field setup, registration, pit support, and more. Volunteers will receive complimentary meals and an event t-shirt.
