
In 5th grade, students have been working hard to think deeply about some big complex themes across multiple texts and all subjects. In our last reading unit, we analyzed the theme, “It is important to depend on each other.” Students examined this theme from the multiple texts, and named multiple literary elements authors used to show us, readers, the theme (dialogue, figurative language, 5 senses descriptions, etc.). Here is a picture of a class-developed brainstorm before writing a short essay comparing and contrasting two of the texts. Talk about some deep, complex work!

2025-2026 Kindergarten Registration
2025- 2026 Fall Kindergarten Registration is December 2nd -16th
St. Vrain Valley School District offers free full-day kindergarten at every elementary school. For the 2025-2026 school year, kindergarten applications will be accepted between December 2nd-16th, 2024. Registration continues after December 16th. All preschoolers who are moving to kindergarten next year must register for kindergarten.
Please note that students must turn 5 on or before October 1st 2025 to enroll in Kindergarten

2025-2026 Middle School Open Enrollment
2025-2026 Middle School Open Enrollment begins December 2nd -16th
December is also the open enrollment period for middle school students. Any 5th grade student NOT wanting to attend their home school will need to fill out an open enrollment form to the middle school of their choice.

2025 – 2026 Preschool Registration
- December 17th: 25-26 Preschool Registration Begins – All families who plan on having their student attend a SVVSD preschool program next year must register even IF their student is enrolled in a district preschool program currently.
- Additional Preschool registration information will be released after Thanksgiving break.

Our Lost & Found is overflowing! Please remind your child to look for any lost items and check our lost and found before you leave the building. You will have an opportunity to check for lost items during our Celebrations of Learning Night on Thursday, December 12th.
All unclaimed items will be donated after December 18th.

Attendance
School attendance is the foundation to a successful family partnership that ensures the ongoing academic growth and advancement of your student.
Missing 10%, or 2 days a month, over the course of the school year, can affect a student’s academic success and make it harder to: gain early reading and math skills, build relationships and develop good attendance habits.
Please provide the school with a note from the doctor, orthodontist, dentist, therapist, or any appointment each time you go. This will ensure that your child’s attendance is documented and marked as Dr. excused rather than simply absent.
