Using the Socratic Seminar method, students in Mrs. Warren’s class dove into expressing opinions respectfully while backing them up with solid evidence. Witnessing the students engage in thoughtful discussions, actively listening to each other, and respectfully presenting their viewpoints was truly inspiring! This method not only fosters critical thinking but also lays a solid foundation for mastering opinion writing. Socratic Seminars are a powerful tool for honing skills in opinion expression, and it’s incredible to see our young minds embracing this technique with such enthusiasm!

Preschool Pre-Registration:
2024-2025 Fall Preschool Pre-Registration Begins December 1st
To better serve you and to support a more timely student preschool placement, St. Vrain’s Department of Early Childhood Education is offering families the opportunity to complete the district’s online pre-registration process prior to the state’s Universal Preschool (UPK) application. Families that pre-register in December will receive a notification of their placement from St. Vrain Valley Schools by the end of January, 2024. Pre-registered families will receive ongoing support and communication from St. Vrain Valley Schools if they choose to navigate the UPK process. All families who plan on having their student attend a SVVSD preschool program next year must pre-register even IF their student is enrolled in a district preschool program currently.

2024-2025 Kindergarten Registration
2024- 2025 Fall Kindergarten Registration is December 1st -15th
St. Vrain Valley School District offers free full-day kindergarten at every elementary school. For the 2024-2025 school year, kindergarten applications will be accepted between December 1-15, 2023. Registration continues after December 15. All preschoolers who are moving to kindergarten next year must register for kindergarten.

2024-2025 Middle School Open Enrollment
2024-2025 Middle School Open Enrollment begins December 1st -15th
December is also the open enrollment period for middle school students. Any 5th grade student NOT wanting to attend their home school will need to fill out an open enrollment form to the middle school of their choice.

Innovation Center to Host ‘Day of AI’ Event as Part of Computer Science Education Week
Students, parents, educators, and AI enthusiasts are invited to this community event hosted by the Innovation Center on Saturday, December 2 from 2-5:00 p.m. This unique experience will offer interactive AI activities, informative sessions on St. Vrain’s initiatives in AI education, and hands-on STEM activities with the Future-Ready Innovation Mobile Lab. An outdoor drone light show will conclude the day’s events. A Day of AI also coincides with the World Artificial Intelligence Competition for Youth (WAICY), the world’s largest AI competition for youth, which is hosted by the Innovation Center this year.
